Kinkasan Ryujinmatsuri Jaodori Hono 金華山龍神まつり 龍（蛇）踊り奉納 Miyagi (July)
In the Kinkasan Ryujin Matsuri, lively sounds of gongs, drums and bugles fill the air. A dragon around 20 m long and weighing around 100 kg dances in white smoke. A person holding a ball guides the dragon and ten people control it as it fills the venue with its dance. The participants’ costumes are unique to Kinkasan. They combine ancient Japanese customs with Chinese-style characteristics. This matsuri is a summer event which suits the sacred island of Kinkasan.
