Takada Kanko Bon Odori Taikai (Kusaji Odori)

Takada Kanko Bon Odori Taikai (Kusaji Odori) Oita (Aug.)

Kusaji Odori spread among the ordinary people over 300 years ago. Today, 18 young dancers diligently practice the dance. A big moment for the dancers is the Takada Kanko Bon Odori Taikai, which is held once a year. They thrill the crowd when they appear at the finale which closes the matsuri, with a quick change between the women dressed in yukata performing a gentle dance, and the men in happi coats performing a lively dance. (It is a designated intangible folk cultural property of the prefecture.)
