Kaku Jinja Chushusai Kaku no Ichi

Kaku Jinja Chushusai Kaku no Ichi Oita (Sept.)

Kaku Jinja Chushusai Kaku no Ichi is held once every six years, in the year of the rabbit and the year of the rooster. A valiant daimyo procession is held, and the special attraction is the "toriigoshi" event, in which children throw umbrellas over a five meter-high torii gate and catch them. If they succeed, they are greeted by cheers from the crowds at the side of the road. This is the liveliest part of the matsuri. The rituals in the unique procession, which includes the "toriigoshi" event, have been passed down orally, and form the bonds that bind the community.
