Fukagawa Hachiman Matsuri 深川八幡祭り Tokyo (Aug.)
Tomioka Hachimangu Reisai is also known as Fukagawa Hachiman Matsuri. It is centered on the annual ceremony held on August 15th. It is one of the three great matsuri of Edo, and has long provided spiritual support to the region. The event in 2017 is the hon-matsuri, which is held once every three years. This features a procession of the Hachimangu imperial carriage, 120 town mikoshi (shrine floats) of various sizes and fifty-odd grand mikoshi, which is the highlight of the matsuri.
