Achi Jinja Shuki Reitaisai

Achi Jinja Shuki Reitaisai Okayama (Oct.)

Achi Jinja Shuki Reitaisai is held over two days at Achi Shrine in the Bikan Historical Quarter of Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. On the first day, a ceremony is held at 10:00am, and in the evening there is a ceremonial dance by shrine maidens and a Kurashiki Tenryo Daiko performance. The deity is transferred the following day in a historical procession through Kurashiki, and is welcomed by the locals. A hit on the head from a participating "suinkyo" wearing a mask is said to bring good health.
