Moro no Yabusame Matsuri

Moro no Yabusame Matsuri Saitama (Nov.)

Moro no Yabusame Matsuri is held in spring and autumn at Izumoiwai Shrine. The horseback archery performed is not that of a school of martial arts, but a style passed down through the region as a matsuri. In the autumn yabusame, youths of around fifteen years of age are chosen to be the archers, and repeatedly perform purification rites before the day of the matsuri. The youth shoot the arrow and pray for peace in the region.
