Konakizumo Nagasaki (Feb.)

Konakizumo is held annually on the day of Setsubun. Approximately 300 babies around the age of one are brought to the matsuri, and people pray for the babies’ health and sound growth. Two babies are made to face each other, and the first one to cry is said to be the winner. The matsuri is said to have begun around 400 year ago at Saikyo-ji Temple, when the crying of a baby drove away the spirits of the dead.
