Otasan Jinja Reitaisai 太田山神社例大祭 Hokkaido (June)
Otasan Jinja Reitaisai is a matsuri of Otasan Shrine. The deity of the shrine has long been worshipped in Hokkaido as the protector of seafarers. The main shrine hall is located on the side of Mt. Ota. It is reached by climbing stone steps rising at an angle of 40 degrees, a steep mountain road with the help of a rope, and then an iron chain up a seven meter cliff with an inclination of 90 degrees. At the time of the matsuri, young people who have purified their bodies aim for the main hall in the Oyamakake ritual.
