Wakuri Mibu Kyogen 和久里壬生狂言 Fukui (Apr.)
Wakuri Mibu Kyogen is performed once every six years as the Shichinen Kuyosai memorial event for the Ichi-no-To tower in the grounds of Saiho-ji Temple in Wakuri, Obama City, Fukui Prefecture. The silent plays are performed over three days by mask-wearing locals from Wakuri. The tradition is said to have come from Mibu Kyogen in Mibu-dera Temple in Kyoto. With moral themes, the plays are easy to understand and are highly entertaining, like humorous pantomimes.
