Suimu Jinja Reitaisai Mikoshi Makuri 水無神社例大祭 みこしまくり Nagano (July)
Suimu Jinja Reitaisai Mikoshi Makuri is held annually on July 22nd and 23rd. Every year, a new mikoshi (shrine float) weighing around 400 kg is made from red pine (70-100 years old) cut from a local mountain. The brand-new mikoshi is thrown down on the ground, and rolled horizontally and vertically, until it is completely broken. The pride of Kisofukushima, it is known as an eccentric matsuri.
