Kasuga Jinja Shuki Taisai

Kasuga Jinja Shuki Taisai Ehime (Oct.)

From around the end of the Edo period (1603 - 1868), this traditional autumn matsuri has been held at Kasuga Shrine, which dates back to the Muromachi era (1338 - 1573). On the last day of the three-day matsuri, three districts each present ushioni (ox demon), itsushika (five deer) and boat parade performances. Various acts which have been passed down through the generations parade through the village, and the whole area shows a liveliness not seen at any other time of year.
