Hyuga Hyottoko Natsu Matsuri

Hyuga Hyottoko Natsu Matsuri Miyazaki (July)

Nagata no Hyottoko Odori is held in the Nagata area of Shiomi, Hyuga City. Participants disguised as foxes and wearing okame and hyottoko comical masks dance humorously in time to the music played on flutes, drums and bells. The Hyuga Hyottoko Natsu Matsuri was first held in 1984, and every year, fans of the hyottoko odori dance gather from around the country. The highlight of the event is the spectacle of approximately 2,000 hyottoko participants parading and dancing through the city streets.
