Chikozu Hi no Kami Matsuri

Chikozu Hi no Kami Matsuri Kumamoto (Oct.)

Chikozu Kashimagu Hi no Kami Matsuri has its origins in an incident which happened around 1100 years ago. Pirates from Silla Kingdom on the Korean Peninsula attacked Chikozu Port, and in defense, the villagers threw burning wood which was cut from the mountains. As sparks fly furiously, the men put on a powerful display, with single men taking the role of the defenders, and married men taking the role of the attackers.
